I founded The Artiscape Magazine in 2008, as a way of promoting ALL talented Artists across all art disciplines. Having graduated from to the National College of Art and Design in Ireland with a BA in Art and Design Education as a qualified secondary school art teacher and a fine Art Painter, I became quite disillusioned by what was out there by way of promoting artists, particularly upcoming or unknowns. A lot of my peers at the time who had studied Fine art and the other disciplines have ended up in non-art related careers. I think this is very sad.
So in 2008, I launched the Artiscape magazine in Ireland. At the time there was only about 6 artists who I knew personally, this then grew a year later to 100 artists. At one stage we had a stall in Cows Lane design Market in temple bar, Dublin. But it was bad times in Ireland so it didn’t exactly make us rich. But as Picasso said “Action is the foundational key to all success.” So it was a good start. When I moved to London, I decided to redevelop the site to give it a fresher look and feel. This has taken longer than expected but it finally was relaunched in January 2012.
The Artiscape works on contributions from various different art sources. Artists, Collectors, Art Historians, Art bloggers and generally people that love to talk about art. It is currently evolving to suit the contributions, so it is still a work in progress until we find the right format.
