Asia 2011 - Photographs/Installation by Larry Cwik

"Asia 2011" is Portland artist and photographer Larry Cwik's current exhibit of new work at Gallery 5, his first solo exhibit in Portland in almost four years.  The exhibit and installation address commerce and spirituality in Asia and include Cwik's color photographs from the Asia 2011 project from Hong Kong, Bangladesh, Nepal, India, and Qatar.

Art In Motion

Ingo Leth works in different disciplines including acrylic or oil paint on canvas combined with natural materials like paper and sand. In his work exists a cadence of colour, energy, and a spontaneous exuberance for the medium that is captivating and visually exciting. The organic and instinctive style, fluid and visceral in presentation reveals a heightened understanding of structure and composition to express emotional tenor.
His work is often figurative, realistic, and abstract.

Active Valuing in Art Museums

Children learn more easily with hands on experiences. Art Museums find it difficult to engage their interests and make visits worthwhile. Partly due to the amount of energy and shorter attention spans that children have, it also relates to their natural curiosity, often expressed in loud voices accompanied by the urge to touch. These behaviors can easily disrupt other patron’s visits. Without proper preparation before or supervision during the visit, children may feel unwelcome and uncomfortable in art galleries.
