I was born in Iceland but have lived most of my life in Maryland. I was fortunate to attend Columbus College of Art and Design on an awarded scholarship, and continued my education over the years with many classes and workshops with artists I admire and have taken other college courses. I worked as a commercial illustrator and photographer before concentrating on both sculpture and now oil painting.
Currently am a member of ‘Oil Painters of America’, ‘ Salmagundi Club’, ‘Valley Art Association’, and ‘Spectrum Seven’. I am listed in the ‘National Museum of Women in the Arts’ and ‘The Artists Bluebook’. I have won numerous awards in juried shows, had one person shows in Washington County Museum of Fine Art in Hagerstown, MD; Shepherd College Library, WV; and ListGallery, Reykjavik, Iceland. Also have shown in numerous galleries. My work is in private and corporate collections both in the U.S. and Europe. I had one of my paintings donated by a collector and accepted for the WCMFA permanent collection.
My painting style could be called impressionist realism, and I paint many paintings of Iceland and Maryland landscapes, and often paint my ‘mindscapes’ (which can be most anything), as well as commissions in a variety of subjects.
I also teach an oil painting class.
