Gallery Violet Announces Spring 2012 Pop-Up Exhibition in Suffolk
Gallery Violet is pleased to announce its next Pop-Up Exhibition, to take place in the Georgian splendour of Orwell Park School, Nacton, Ipswich on 16-23 March 2012. There will be a Private View on Friday 16th between 5pm and 8pm, followed by an open day on Saturday 17th March from 11am – 4pm. Both these events are open to the public, with invitations available by sending your details to info@galleryviolet.com. Art enthusiasts looking to see the exhibition and buy work outside of these public times should make an appointment with the school office on 01473 659 225.
Anick Purmessur, who owns and runs Gallery Violet, is constantly on the look-out for the best new artists to join its stable, and at the Spring Pop-Up she will be showing work by Anthony Giles, who paints powerful large-scale oil Landscapes, often depicting such subjects as the bleak marshes at Dungeness or the picturesque Oare Creek at Faversham, the moment of a rainstorm at sea off Margate, or the sunlight reflecting on a quiet river at Sandwich.

Colin Slee’s pastoral paintings and drawings are filled with the atmosphere of estuaries, seashore, moorland and forest. They are the result of a love affair with the local countryside that began in 1993 when he first visited Suffolk. He is now based near Orford, Suffolk.
Colin uses pastels and charcoal on paper, and also acrylics on large-scale canvasses to respond to his environment and to portray an atmospheric and emotional sense of place.
Collectors love his deeply evocative and dreamy scenes that firmly place him within the modern art world. His work is therefore highly sought-after.

The gallery is also bringing selected work by some other exciting artists including work by Andrew Weis, an emerging US artist who paints sublime, very large-scale abstract work that resonates with vitality and feeling. Amanda Ansell makes magical paintings full of the stillness and peace of swans on a crisp winter’s morning
